Company registration in Dubai: what address the licence actually requires

Can a virtual office be used to get a Dubai trade licence?

No. A mainland licence from the Department of Economy and Tourism requires a physical office and a registered Ejari tenancy contract. Free zones ask for a workspace of their own: DMCC states plainly that it has no genuine virtual office and requires at least a flexi-desk, and Meydan builds a flexi-desk into every licence instead of offering a virtual one.

What does that workspace cost?

A DMCC flexi-desk runs about AED 16,000–19,000 a year. IFZA licence packages start near AED 12,900 and include a flexi-desk, and Meydan starts around AED 12,500 on the same basis. These are the free zones’ own desks — a third-party virtual address does not replace them.

How long does registration take?

Seven to fourteen days for a mainland licence when the documents are in order and the activity needs no outside approval. Regulated activities — finance, healthcare, education, oil and gas — add clearances and stretch it to four to eight weeks.

Then what is a virtual office in Dubai for?

For correspondence and presence, not for the licence: a real business address in the city, mail received and forwarded, a point on the map for clients and partners. Companies already licensed through a free zone desk use it as their contact address.

Where in the UAE is a virtual address accepted for registration?

In Abu Dhabi. ADGM accepts a registered virtual office address for most licence categories when it sits inside ADGM and includes mail handling. If registration on a virtual address is the goal, that is the jurisdiction to look at.
